This Sunday's 7km forest run wasn't about strict training or perfect pacing — it was all about freedom, fun, and letting the dogs just be dogs.
We split the crew into small running teams and hit the winding forest roads for a full free run — no lines, just me on the ATV and happy paws tearing up the trail.
The Teams
Pella's first outing! She joined Angel and Thor but only ran the first half before hitching a ride with me on the ATV (rookie perks). She still soaked up the sights, learned from the older dogs, and definitely enjoyed her VIP forest tour.
Angel and Thor were all business — fast, focused, and perfectly matched. Thor led like he'd memorized the route. Angel made sure Pella felt included... and out of the way when needed.
Zara and Oden were on their usual wavelength — playful, coordinated, and somehow always exactly where I needed them to be. Forest fairies in malamute form.
Luna and Lokie, however... found every muddy patch in the region. I'm pretty sure Luna believes mud is a reward. Lokie didn't argue. The rest of the team? Clean as a whistle. Figures.
"There's something special about watching malamutes run for the sheer joy of it — ears back, tails high, no agenda other than motion."
